11th workshop talks "News from the Middle Ages"
For the eleventh time, the Historical Seminar of the University of Mannheim and the Institute for Franconian-Palatinate History and Regional Studies in Heidelberg invite you to the "Workshop Discussions - News from the Middle Ages". The "workshop talks" will take place this year on September 8th and 9th in Mannheim.
They are pursuing a double objective: on the one hand they want to offer a forum for the discussion of current research in the field of medieval disciplines from the early Middle Ages to the 16th century. On the other hand, they want to give young scientists in particular the opportunity to present their ongoing dissertations and post-doctoral theses and to discuss them with fellow students. In addition to the scientific exchange and the methodical-theoretical discussion, the main focus is on networking and personal contact.
In principle, the "workshop talks" are open to ongoing qualification projects from various medieval disciplines and subject areas. This year we want to deal with the topic of "economy in the Middle Ages" in a section, which should not be an exclusive topic of the conference. Young researchers who are working on a topic related to regional history, for example, are therefore expressly encouraged to apply.
25-minute presentations followed by a discussion are planned.
The organization team would like to send a short abstract (max. 400 words) with the title of the presentation to the contact address below by May 31, 2022. Contributions are welcome in German or English. The costs for the journey (2nd class train) and one night's accommodation will be covered for all speakers.
We are looking forward to an active participation!
